Pizza Party!!!

In the food business, there’s a saying, "If you want to make money, make pizza." The ingredients cost next to nothing, and you’ve always got a market hungry for your product.
Turn that logic around, and you’ve got an economic case for homemade pizza. Flour and packaged yeast are cheap, water is free (or close to it), and you probably already have the toppings in your fridge. A homemade pizza party can cost less than $2 per person. You can’t even get a slice for that these days.

Worried that you lack the know-how or heat to make pizza at home? Andrew Burman, a graduate student in New York University’s Food Studies program, insists he can make fantastic homemade pizza—from scratch—using ordinary kitchen equipment in less than 45 minutes.

Celery Wrap

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

Candle Sense

Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least 3 hours prior to burning.
Try it.

Make Them Last

Whenever I purchase a box of S.O.S. (brillo) pads, I immediately take a pair of scissors and cut each pad into halves. Much more economical and sharper scissors.

Don't Discard, Reuse

Use empty toilet paper rolls to store cords behind your computor or entertainment center.
You can also write on the roll what the cord is for.

Empy Cereal and other food item boxes are great for storing reciept magazines or small books.
Just cut the box diaginally and they store neatly upright.

Large Cheerios box works great for magazines. Why pay for fancy organization?

Money Woes & Losing Sleep

The focus of this blog is sharing ways to stretch our resources to provide for our families and save for the future. These days it seems like every time we turn on the TV or radio we are hear another piece of news about job losses or how bad the economy is. We are already living too busy, fast paced lives with more than enough stress. The constant stream of "bad news" tends to make it worse. Sometimes, it feels like turning up the heat on the pressure cooker.
Personally, I have too many nights where I wake up at 3:30 AM and had difficulty falling back asleep because of all of the "steam" in my pressure cooker. During a recent business trip a friend sent me this article he read in Southwest Airlines in flight magazine. The title of the article is "The Science of ZZZZZZZs". It is a somewhat humorous look at many of the gadgets that people spend their money on trying to get better sleep. While the article may seem long and you may start to doze off part way through, be sure to read the helpful suggestions at the end that won't cost you any money and may help you improve your sleep.
